EMR Salisbury Operations Manager
Bill Hickman began his career with EMR in February 2020 when he was hired as the Salisbury, MD, Assistant Branch Manager. After 3 years in the business, he has worked hard to earn his title of Operations Manager and leads a 19-person team out of the Salisbury, MD, branch with a territory spanning the Eastern Shore and Southern VA. The service industry has always been a part of Bill’s life. In 1983, his father founded Hickman Heating and Air Conditioning in Pocomoke City, MD. Bill worked in the family business as a Lead Service tech, Installation Manager and General Manager from 1996 to 2013. In 2013, Bill left the family business and began his time with Lowes where he was Service Manager until coming on board with EMR in 2020. Bill’s long-time career in the service industry and his expertise in customer relations, organizing, planning, and overseeing has led him to his leadership position today.
“I like to think of myself as a fireman. I’m good at de-escalating situations and coming up with solutions to problems. I like knowing that what I’m doing isn’t just for personal gain, but rather I’m also helping other people get to where they need to be.””
In his new position, Bill looks forward to continuing to help others in any way that he can; whether that’s through solving customer problems as quickly as possible or making sure his team has what they need to get their jobs done. Coming from one family-owned business to another, Bill describes EMR as being with a group of people who are on the same page and working towards the same goals. “Working in and for a family business can be difficult, but EMR makes it easy and does it exceptionally well,” he said.
Outside of EMR, Bill enjoys playing the piano and guitar, reading, traveling with his wife, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is a past member of the Salisbury Moose Lodge and Delmarva Heat Pump Association. He has performed music in various venues, both solo and with different bands, and was formerly the music minster at his church.
