EMR’s industrial division offers comprehensive repair services for electric motors, pumps, gearboxes and associated equipment, as well as electronic and electrical controls. With a full-service machine shop, we are capable of in-shop and in-field machine work and dynamic balancing.
We are passionate about delivering first-class elevator rewinding and repair services to our customers – elevator manufacturers and elevator repair companies. The services we offer are continuously being expanded to meet the changing needs of the industry.
From performing mechanical, rewinding and machine shop repairs to AC and DC equipment, EMR also repairs escalator gearboxes and equipment. We maintain a large inventory of used hoist motors, motor generators sets and hydraulic pump motors. Our onsite services include gearless armature rewinding, commutator machining, sheave re-grooving, shaft repairs, alignment and electrical testing.
New elevator service offerings
Recently, we recognized a shift in the maintenance and service of electronic elevator drives. Several customers began removing existing DC motors and replacing them with AC motors. With this switch, customers are able to save money because AC motors have fewer windings and are much more efficient than DC motors.
EMR has also seen an uptick in the number of elevator motors that need rewinding – likely due to the age of elevator motors currently in operation. For elevator motors that have one shaft or winding that is faulty, the repair must be completed onsite. While these are often the most difficult projects, they are also the most rewarding for EMR’s technicians who receive extensive training and support from the company.
EMR’s future
Caroline Kauffman-Kirschnick, president of EMR, sees growth in the company’s industrial business and as we continue to expand its footprint throughout the East Coast, the company will be investing resources in growing the industrial side of the business. As more industrial motors continue to age, EMR will have trained and knowledgeable technicians at the ready to service these often complicated machines.
