The Countdown to National Tradesperson Day
In the month leading up to National Tradesperson Day, we launched an exciting social media campaign to highlight our talented technicians. Through videos and testimonials, we showcased their skills, shared their stories, and explored the personal significance their trades hold for them. This initiative not only celebrated their expertise but also emphasized the vital role skilled trades play in our daily lives. The positive feedback and engagement from our followers were a testament to the deep respect and appreciation for these professionals. Alongside the campaign, we featured a special “Trades Cheer” and a heartfelt story from EMR President, Caroline Kauffman-Kirschnick. Her words reflected the pride and dedication of our technicians, reminding us of the personal and professional impact the trades have on our lives.
Celebrating on September 20th
We dedicated the morning to honoring the incredible individuals who keep our operations running smoothly – our skilled tradespeople. This year, we closed all of our branches from 8 AM to noon to create a special atmosphere of appreciation and camaraderie.
→Opening Remarks & Breakfast
EMR President, Caroline Kauffman-Kirschnick, kicked off the day with inspiring remarks, emphasizing the critical role skilled trades play in sustaining industries and communities every day. She also touched on the growing skills gap, a message that resonated with many as we work to mentor new technicians and uphold the values of craftsmanship. In this special moment, all EMR branches connected via video call, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose. It was heartwarming to see familiar faces and celebrate together, even across distances. Caroline’s words set the tone for a day of pride, reflection, and fun!
→Door Prizes, Team Building and Trivia
Next came one of the most interactive parts of the morning: team-building activities and trivia! These events were designed to test our knowledge, build camaraderie, and challenge our problem-solving skills. Of course, we can’t forget the door prizes – every hour, a random name was drawn, and the lucky winner took home a cash prize.
We started with a creative team-building activity where each group, blindfolded, had to use a bag of supplies to build a fort strong enough to withstand an imaginary snowstorm. This challenge tested our collaboration, communication, and trust – key skills we rely on daily at EMR – while sparking plenty of laughter along the way.
Next, our trivia session brought out some friendly competition with questions about our trades, EMR’s history, technical knowledge, and fun facts about one another. It was a great way to learn more about our colleagues and showcase the expertise across our team, with even a few tricky questions stumping some of our seasoned experts!
